Welcome to Medellín, the city of eternal spring! In December 2024, this vibrant city in northwestern Colombia offers a unique experience full of culture, nature and entertainment for you to enjoy with your family or friends.
At Viaggio Medellín, we present some of the activities you can't miss during this Christmas and New Year's Eve season that you can do in our city:
Christmas Route along the Medellín River.
Since last November 28, Medellin turned on its Christmas lights of the Medellin River being this tradition one of the most emblematic in Colombia that combines art and tradition. For this year, it has been inspired by a giant manger with more than 8 million LED bulbs and figures of another level with more than 15 meters high, more than 25 thousand thematic figures that highlight the beauty and magic of this season.
The lights are located in 50 points of the city and it is recommended to start at Avenida La Playa, Avenida Oriental, down San Juan to the Guayaquil Bridge. Walk along the river path, pass Parques del río and arrive at the EPM Building where visitors will be able to see a show of a robotic fountain La Vida. This tour will be open from Sunday to Sunday from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am and can be observed until January 12, 2025.
The visit to the illuminations can also be made in other municipalities surrounding Medellin and are located in public spaces where visitors can also enjoy street performers, street vendors, food establishments, among other activities for all tastes.
Christmas Chiva Tour in Medellin.
This activity takes place in a traditional chiva rumbera from 1946 painted by hand and includes a Christmas hat and guide in Spanish and lasts between 3 to 4 hours and starts at Poblado Park where it will be the meeting point, then continue to the area of the Medellin River, the Parque del Norte and panoramic tour through the main squares and streets of downtown. During the tour, visitors can also learn about the traditions of Colombia during these festivities and enjoy a small mobile disco where you can listen to good music and dance.
Tickets must be purchased in advance online and the tour can be reserved up to 7 hours before the tour starts, subject to availability. Pets under 10 kg are allowed and the price of the tour is around USD 21 per person.
